EECS Ph.D. Student Vala Fathipour has been awarded the 2014 Best Student Paper Award at SPIE Optics + Photonics 2014, held August 17-21 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, CA. Additionally, she was also awarded an SPIE Student Travel Grant in the amount of $200 to present her award winning paper, titled, "Approaching high temperature photon counting with electron-injection detectors."
Fathipour is currently a Research Assistant working in the Bio-inspired Sensors and Optoelectronics Laboratory (BiSOL) under Prof. Hooman Mohseni. She is interested in surface plasmon based devices, QCL and in general optoelectronic devices. View her LinkedIn & Google Scholar Citations profile
