Initial assignments as a researcher can be in a variety of technologically challenging areas. Candidates can expect opportunities across these functions throughout their career. Assignments in Corporate Research revolve around basic science in a wide variety of areas, working on strategic longer-term initiatives, covering inorganic, organic, physical, analytical, and materials chemistry.

Responsibilities can include development of new tests, synthesis and characterization of materials with new properties, homogeneous and heterogenous catalysis, polymer synthesis and characterization, and other investigations of basic scientific properties.

Assignments in Products Research are focused around applied science, and the development and support of lubricant and fuel products that will be sold to consumers. Responsibilities can include formulation of new products, optimization of existing products, using established and existing methods to demonstrate performance of ExxonMobil and competitor products, supporting ExxonMobil business partners in production and sale of lubricant and fuel products, and interacting with suppliers, equipment manufacturers, and industry committees in a variety of roles.

Assignments in Process Research include finding new technologies to support refineries, and evaluating these new technologies in lab scale and pilot scale testing. Responsibilities are in the technology areas of refining, catalysis, advanced separations, natural gas conversion, energy conservation, plant automation, and compositional modeling. Areas of interest include hydrocarbon rearrangements, hydrocarbon activation, chemistry of high molecular weight compounds, preparation of new catalytic materials, and separations science, all aimed at developing and commercializing successful technologies.

Our web portal " think of it as MySpace for Science - lets high school science students across the nation and around the world work with professional scientists to learn collaborative data analysis techniques, and to prepare for careers in the most exciting scientific investigations of our time.

This position involves developing a collaborative, web-based data collection, analysis and collaboration portal that enables high school science students and their teachers, to conduct hands-on experiments with their own instruments and with data from the groundbreaking experiments like LHC collider at CERN. Here, professional scientists work with teachers and students to learn and apply the methods of scientific data collection and analyses.

Symantec Research Labs in Culver City CA - several openings

The Core Research group of Symantec Research Labs is the main research arm of Symantec corporation. The Core Research group of Symantec Research Labs is the main research arm of Symantec corporation that focuses on the research and development of advanced technologies in the areas of computer/data security, file/data management, and high-availability clustering service and applications, that will have direct impacts on existing and future Symantec products.

There are four immediate openings in the Core Research group at Symantec Research Labs (SRL). Three of them are available to graduating Ph.D. students and one of them requires a Master's degree. Freelance Object-Oriented Programmer"Immediate Opening

We have an immediate opening for an object-oriented programmer with strong creative design skills and ActionScript experience. This position will be on a freelance or contract basis working onsite in our Chicago office. This candidate will utilize their technical capabilities along with their creative design skills to build highly interactive and advanced Flash programs.

Programming services are needed to extend existing graphic classes, as well as data simulations, and feed information to those classes. The programmer will work with a graphic designer to update and create additional classes as necessary.

Flash and ActionScript 2.0 programming language experience is essential. Experience with Adobe Flash Lite 3.0 application development is preferred. Assistance is required in transitioning an existing Flash Lite 3.0 project onto a non-standard mobile device.

This would involve programming Microsoft Access program and designing the "forms" interface. This process should take probably 2-3 hours. Pay is $15-20 per hour plus parking.

Website project for Hanna Banana Bread Company, Glencoe

Hannah Banana Bread Company is based in Glencoe. It is a firm started by my wife, Lisa Spinner in 2000 and is named after our daughter Hannah. We provide high-quality baked goods that are either sold by the slice at coffee shops or by the loaf in specialty food and grocery stores. All of our products are named after our kids and family members.

Our website was launched in the fall of 2006. Very few changes have been made to it over the last few years, primarily because our previous web designer was unable to build in a back office interface that could be easily managed by someone who does not have a firm grasp of HTML code. Thats a problem, since I often need to make changes to the site and have no way of doing it.

Thus, I am looking for a few basic things:
1. A revised back office setup that will enable me to easily post new documents and photos on the site, as well as change existing content embedded on each page.
2. A basic e-commerce feature would also be a nice addition to the site for our gift boxes and can be outsourced to Yahoo or another vendor, but I would like some assistance in getting this set up as well.
