COURSE GOALS: The key goals of this course are the following: (1) to let you understand the fundamental ideas that underline the design of large-scale distributed computer networks, and (2) to help you learn how to do networking systems research.

PREREQUISITES: EECS 340

DETAILED COURSE TOPICSThe course will cover a broad range of topics including congestion control, routing, analysis and design of network protocols (both wired and wireless), data centers, analysis and performance of content distribution networks, network security, vulnerability, and defenses, net neutrality, and online social networks.

HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS: Two per week. 

LABORATORY PROJECTS: One quarter-long research project
