EECS Grad Students Named '50 For The Future'
June 10, 2009, Northwestern News Center
Electrical engineering and computer science students Francisco Iacobelli and Nathan Nichols were among the three NU doctoral candidates named to the 2009 “50 for the Future” list sponsored by the Illinois Technology Foundation (ITF). Along with Biomedical engineering student Carrie Brubaker, they were honored at a recent ITF awards ceremony. They were selected from among 150 nominees. Read more
NU Solar-Car Team Places 3rd in Grand Prix
The Northwestern Solar Car Team took third place in the Formula Sun Grand Prix 2009, held June 1 through 5 at the Texas Motorsports Ranch in Cresson, TX.
Nine teams from across the country competed in the race, where teams strived to drive as many laps as possible in the three-day time period. Read more

Robby Findler's project "Lightweight, Blame-aware Contract Checking" has been awarded the prestigious NSF CAREER grant. [link]
EECS student Brian Leung from Prof. Seda Ogrenci Memik's lab was among the 10 students chosen as the first class of the Initiative for Sustainability and Energy at Northwestern’s cluster fellows program. [link]
The Annual EECS Awards Presentation was held on June 5, 2009. The winners are: Best Teacher: Ian Horswill; Best TA: Oliviu Ghica (advisor Peter Scheuermann); Best Dissertation: Yao Zhao (advisor Yan Chen) "Internet Networking and Application Troubleshooting"; Best Graduating EE Major: Michael DeBoer; Best graduating CS Major; Rui Jiang; Best Graduating CO Major: Timothy Zwiebel.
