We are seeking an experienced Computer Engineer to plan and lead projects involving multi-disciplinary research studies of modal and intermodal aviation and other transportation safety issues.

By applying advanced knowledge of computer engineering to the evaluation and design of aviation safety management systems, including risk management and aviation safety assurance programs, you will create innovative approaches for the architecture and integration of systems for the FAA and other Division clients, and expand capabilities, applications and customer bases. As a recognized technical authority, you will explore new techniques to effectively utilize advances in computer science to develop new operational concepts to support the overall system integration and performance of a portfolio of aviation safety management and assurance systems, by developing simulations/models including designing, documenting, writing/programming, and testing the resulting software design.

Qualifications:
You must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, (or be a registered engineer). In addition, you must have at least one year of professional engineering experience which included managing, supervising, leading, and/or performing professional engineering and scientific work involving the design, construction, and operation of computer systems, including hardware and software and their integration, for applications related to transportation , particularly the area of aviation safety.

This experience must have involved defining projects and parameters and coordinating the technical work of project teams, and must have demonstrated creativity and innovation in enhancing technical content while providing best value.

JOB DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a capable and responsible systems administrator for the Center for Connected Learning and Computer-Based Modeling (CCL) http://ccl.northwestern.edu/.

The main component of the job is Unix (Linux) systems administrator: Maintaining the CCL's 3 Linux servers and associated services and technologies including backups. This includes maintaining mailing lists and aliases (Postfix and Mailman), Apache servers, and a code repository (utilizing SVN and Trac).

In addition to these responsibilities, the administrator will be responsible for troubleshooting CCL Macintosh and PCs when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with UNIX system administration preferred, but the position is also open to proficient UNIX users with a strong desire to learn UNIX system administration and the ability to learn quickly. Some light programming (Python, Perl shell scripting, etc.) may be involved. Knowledge of Mac and Windows platforms and an eagerness to learn and solve problems. Experience with hardware configuration is also required.

PAY RATE: Range is $11-15/hr depending on experience.

2) In depth understanding of data binding and usage of interfaces INotifyPropertyChange, IList, ITypedList ...
3) Be familiar with common patterns i.e. factory, template method, select, async, builder etc...

C++ position:
1) working knowledge of ACE and BOOST
2) experienced with high performance trading software development
3) working knowledge of FIX (quickFix or other FIX engine)
4) working knowledge of a Messaging architecture (i.e. Tibco/29West/Other)
5) some experience with automated (unit) testing
6) quick learner, able to understand a large (well architectured/organized but lightly commented) code base.
