Notice on Students Absence from Class on April 23, 1998

Many students were absent from class today (10 out of 21 showed up). This is a critical problem because we talked quite a while about the *concept* of state variables. This is not "how to do it" sort of material. It's a very important concept for the rest of the quarter.

We also went through, in detail, how to get from a diagram of a phsyical system to its state equations. Look also at additional examples in:

Examples

Students who missed class should thoroughly review the 'steps' at the above URL and do some examples. (Everybody should do that)

It may be difficult to catch up about state variables. The text in the following chapters may help; please read these very carefully. Questions, both from those who were in class today and those who were not, are very welcome tomorrow.
