Welcome to my WebPage!

I know you have not reached this page accidentally. If you are interested in me, then you may find out that I have graduated at ''Politehnica'' University of Bucharest in 2002. I came to USA in 2003 and joined the Northwestern University in 2004. Pursuing doctoral studies has always been in my plans. Not that it is a fun and easy thing to do, but most of the time it has its share of rewards. In 2006, I have obtained my Master's Degree. Currently I am planning the last details towards the PhD defense and, concomitently, orienting for a career. I have been an intern at only one company so far, Motorola, for a whole year, where I developed the first ever adaptive control systems based on digital signal processing techniques. It was a great experience that came at the right time, and the knowledge I have gathered there was tremendous. If it would not have been the dream of achieving higher education ...

From Summer 2007 throgh mid-2008 I've been Software Engineer, intern, at BEA Systems, Inc., working on one of the hottest products on the market: WebLogic Event Server (WL EvS). Intensive Java programming, Java technologies and real-time, complex event processing. I did hard-core development and optimizations of the product's core complex event processing engine. It was awesome!

Summer 2009 was probably one of the most exciting and challenging ones that I've ever had: working at World Evolved - a startup company. World Evolved is the second venture for Heidi Messer and Stephen Messer, the sister and brother team who founded, built, and sold LinkShare Corporation, which was acquired by a Japanese portal for several hundred million dollars in 2005. The transaction is widely recognized as one of the most significant investor exits in the New York new media market in the last decade. I've been privileged to work here. Aside from working with hand-picked top-of-the-line graduates from the most prestigious universities in USA, the exposure to cutting edge technologies was truly amazing. I've gained an unexpected amount of knowledge, related to web-services, RESTful architectures, build/release processes, system monitoring, security and many more, along with understanding the challenges a startup company faces and the approaches taken to manage and organize a team that wants to push hard ahead - almost speechless.

Currently, I am concentrating my efforts to finalize and prepare for my PhD defense. As part of it, in Spring 2008 I've publically launched my open-soure SIDnet simulator for sensor networks applications.

Aside from the work and school, I like outdoor activities (biking, hiking, skiing) and artistic activities (digital photography, graphic design, CAD for fun). I am pretty much open for whatever is new and is challenging to me (tennis, basketball, and why not, paintball).

I am a very organized person, who likes to put ideas in clear forms. I am planning my activities and projects carefully so that I can work in a very productive and efficient manner.
